Stockholm did not make in the top 10 smart Cities in the World.
The IMD World Competitiveness Center has released the rankings of the world’s most smart cities. This index has been published annually since 2019 and ranks 142 smart cities worldwide based on data analyzed by researchers, as well as survey responses from 120 residents in each city. The study provides an overview of how a city’s infrastructure and technology impact its performance and the quality of life of its inhabitants.
This year’s index was produced by the IMD World Competitiveness Center’s Smart City Observatory in collaboration with the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organization (WeGO) based in Seoul, South Korea.
Here are the top 10 smart cities according to the 2024 Smart City Index:
- Zurich, Switzerland
- Oslo, Norway
- Canberra, Australia
- Geneva, Switzerland
- Singapore
- Copenhagen, Denmark
- Lausanne, Switzerland
- London, England
- Helsinki, Finland
- Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates
Although all other Scandinavian countries’ cities made it into the top 10 list, none of the Swedish cities made it onto the list. However, Stockholm secured the 11th place without much surprise.
