Some healthcare fees for patients have been increased at the beginning of the year. For adults, a visit to the health center ( vårdcentralen) now costs SEK 275, and a visit to the local emergency hospital ( närakuten) costs SEK 375.

For individuals aged between 18 and 84, the changes in patient fees translate to a cost of 275 kronor for a visit to the health center or specialist care, marking an increase of 25 crowns. A visit to the nearby clinic now costs 375 kronor, reflecting a hike of 125 kronor.

The fee for a visit to one of the emergency regional hospitals’ emergency departments remains unchanged at SEK 400.

If you are a frequent visitor to healthcare services and your fees exceed SEK 1,400, you can obtain a free card. This card applies to the remaining days until your 12-month period concludes.

What happens if you miss or arrive late for a hospital appointment in Sweden?

In the event of missing a planned visit to outpatient care or a scheduled operation without timely cancellation, a no-show fee must be paid. If you arrive late, preventing the care from being carried out, the same fee of SEK 400 applies, even if the care would have been free of charge or if you possess a free card.
