The Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) has issued a warning to the public regarding a fraudulent company operating a website that claims to assist individuals in booking appointments with the Statens service center for ID card applications. The company falsely offers to make these bookings on behalf of individuals for a fee of SEK 400.
However, the Tax Agency emphasizes that booking an appointment for an ID card application is free of charge. Despite this, individuals are being misled into paying the company for this service, only to find out that the application fee for the ID card is not included. An additional SEK 400 must be paid directly to the Swedish Tax Agency for the application fee.
Numerous reports have been received by the Swedish Tax Agency from individuals who have paid the company for a booking that was never completed. In response, the Tax Agency, along with the State Service Center responsible for managing these bookings, has alerted the police to the incident. They urge anyone affected by a missed booking to report it to the authorities.
Furthermore, the Swedish Tax Agency advises the public to exercise caution when sharing personal data online.”
