The police, astutely sensing an underlying issue, promptly tipped off the Social Insurance Agency, försäkringskassan, regarding the unfolding incident.

One striking element that emerged, aside from the father’s remarkable self-sufficiency, was the son consistently reporting his continued assistance to his father, even during a period of incarceration.

Adding to the intrigue, the father, in his 70s, managed solo trips abroad, while the son remained in Sweden.

The legal repercussions followed, as both the father and son were convicted of a grave support-related crime.

This conviction prompted the Social Insurance Agency to conduct a comprehensive reassessment. They not only concluded that the man was sufficiently independent but also harbored suspicions that the fraudulent activities had been ongoing since as far back as 2007.

The legal consequences are now apparent, with both father and son facing imprisonment for their orchestrated deceit against the Social Insurance Agency. According to Sydsvenskan, their illicit actions resulted in the wrongful receipt of 7.4 million kroner in assistance compensation.
